5 Tips For Decorating For An Elmo Or Sesame Street Birthday Party

Middle class problems Luckily, she was born at the very end of the year so I can steal ideas from the other Baby Mamas in the 2007 Babies group (shhh). They're having some really fun, creative parties this year! Some of my favorites: BrandiQuick had a construction theme for her son's party. The cake was shaped like a dump truck, there were hard hats for the birthday boy and guests, she decorated the driveway with traffic cones and caution tape, and served food and utensils in Tonka trucks. So creative! 3stinkyboys is thinking of having a Candyland party. Her son's birthday is coming up in December too. She wants to put candy in jars, cupcakes, and desserts all around, with squares on the floor like game pieces. She also came up with the idea of putting candycanes on the lawn and leading up to the door. She might even hand-deliver the invites on the back of giant lollipops. Love it! There were pirate parties and princess parties and Elmo parties and all kinds of fun-themed parties. The moms also had great ideas for party activities, presents, and birthday traditions. If you're stumped for ideas, a lot of the moms recommend the online party store celebrateexpress.com , where they have lots of first birthday themes and supplies all ready to go. I also found a great new group on CafeMom called 1st Birthday Party Planning Ideas. It's private and you have to join, but it has everything you need to plan a wonderful party for your little prince or princess.

Elise Hearn enjoys Elmo themed party for secondf birthday

2. The Sesame Street website has a wonderful collection of free printables that you can use to decorate for your Elmo party including letter printables that can be used to make a birthday banner with your birthday boys or girls name. 3. Since Sesame Street is all about bold primary colors you can do a fun and simple science experiment with your child and create a pretty party centerpiece at the same time. Purchase a boquet of white carnations. Separate into four different cups of water. Add drops of red, blue and yellow food coloring into three of the cups and add blue and yellow into the fourth cup to make green. Over night your child can watch the white carnations turn into a rainbow of colors. Arrange the flowers together for a centerpiece for the party. 4. Since letter blocks are part of the logo for Sesame Street, its fun to create your childs name from letter blocks to decorate a table or even the cake for an Elmo party. 5. The Sesame Street website also has free printables featuring numbers one through twenty.

Make A Ladybug From Paper Plates

Lucky or not, you can help kids make a cute ladybug craft from construction paper, some basic craft supplies, and a red paper plate. You can find inexpensive red paper plates in the party section of a dollar store or a party supply store. If you prefer, you trace a regular paper plate on a piece of red construction paper to make a red circle. Supplies: one sheet of black construction paper one 9 inch red paper plate pencil white letter stickers (optional) Make the Ladybug Body and Face Draw a ladybug head and body on a piece of black construction paper, or download a free ladybug craft pattern to print or use as a template. If you draw your own ladybug, the body and head should be connected and big enough to take up most of the sheet of paper. Cut out the ladybug head and body along the lines, without cutting the head and body apart. Draw a face on the ladybug, or glue scraps of paper or plastic google eyes to the head. Glue small scraps of black paper to the top of the ladybugs head for antennae, if desired. Make the Ladybug Wings Cut the red paper plate (or circle of red construction paper) in half to make the wings.

how much do you spend on birthday party favors?

PHOTO COURTESY OF ST. JOSEPH'S CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL Members of Project Ladybug presented a check to Liz Regula, Director of Development, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Foundation. Pictured, from left, are: Cookie Rooney, Liz Regula, Dina Manzo, and Diana Ross. Project Ladybug also has held a "spa day" to provide the mothers of children being treated at SJCH with a much-needed day of pampering. The group has also provided in-kind donations of party supplies, gifts, food, etc., to make birthday and holiday celebrations special. Project Ladybug holds fundraisers throughout the year to raise money from the members' local communities. Proceeds from Project Ladybug's events have been directed to the Ladybug Fund at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. Recently, Project Ladybug held a Ladies Night Out fundraiser at the Brownstone House in Paterson , which netted almost $80,000 to support the Ladybug Fund at SJCH. A portion of proceeds from this year's event will be utilized to fund two important projects at St. Joseph's: the refurbishment of a treatment room for Pediatric Hematology/Oncology patients to make patients' experiences more enjoyable and child-friendly; and the creation of a rooftop playground area to provide a much-needed space for all inpatient pediatric patients at St. Joseph's to enjoy fresh air and physical activity. The remainder of the proceeds will be used to continue to generally support the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program as described above.

Project ladybug supports hospital

Members of Project Ladybug presented a check to Liz Regula, Director of Development, St. Joseph Shindigz, a leading, national party supplies company, offers a complete line of personalized party products for parents who want to go above and beyond by creating birthday decorations and favors with their childrens images, names, and ages. Kids eyes light up when they see how colorful and fun a ladybug or farm birthday party theme can be, observes Keith Bansemer, Director of Internet Marketing at Shindigz. To help parents visualize all the ways they can personalize these birthday parties with their childs name, weve recently added short videos to our web site for several colorful kids themes. In lieu of television or book characters, these newer party themes are cute and interactive, making the birthday boy or girl the center of attention. Parents love using pictures of their childrens faces as the focus of the party decorations. Make the guest of honor appear to shoot out of a cannon at a circus-themed party or create a life-sized standee of the birthday boy or girl next to buried treasure at a pirate birthday party. These custom decorations are memorable backdrops in the photos used to create keepsakes, thank-you notes, or social media posts. The personalization of childrens birthday parties doesnt stop at decorations. Parents are using their childrens names, ages, and images to create personalized party favors. Young children can forever remember their early birthday parties with the personalization of mint tins, coasters, banners, photo frames, canvases, and more. Here are some of the most popular up-and-coming birthday themes that party-throwers are personalizing for their youngsters: Barnyard Bash Farm animals are big right now. A barnyard bash showcases farm animals like sheep, cows, and pigs.

New business brings the party to Oak Harbor

Orin and Robyn Kolaitis own the Whidbey Party Store, which opened March 29 and is located on Cabot Drive in Oak Harbor. - Rebecca Olson/Whidbey News-Times Choose a Color-Based Theme "I usually try to stick with a color theme instead of character theme. The local dollar tree usually has great deals on party supplies or if I am looking for something particular I will go to the party store." - Jennifer Clowers of Completely Outnumbered "I try to keep things simple by using solid color plates/utensils/cups..instead of the 'themed' ones. It's always cheaper & it's going in the garbage anyway." - Staci B. Golden of Lizard & Ladybug "Choose a color theme instead of a pricey licensed theme and head to the dollar store for plates, napkins and children's toys." - Sharon Garofalow of Cupcakes and Cutlery 2. Decorate Cheaply with Balloons "Hanging balloons have become one of my favorite and inexpensive ways to decorate." - Candace of Sparkle Power "Try decorating with lots of balloons...taped to the ceiling...no helium needed." - Chrissy Boerman of Boerman Ramblings 3. Plan Games Instead of Paying for Entertainment "Another huge savings is . . . [planning] the games yourself instead of hiring entertainment!!"- Brianne Manz of Stroller in the City "Have a party at the park or your house, no one cares as long as the kids have fun." - Laureen Botticelli of The Momccupation 4. Serve Food that Stretches "Bak[e] things that go far but don't cost very much, like meringues, which require two eggs and 100grams of sugar to make roughly 12-15 meringues. Or jello you can use fresh fruit juice and gelatine.

7 Tips for Affordable Birthday Parties

7 Tips for Affordable Birthday Parties Unfortunately some people believe that favors are necessary at all parties including weddings. All you actually need to provide to your guests are: some form of entertainment, food appropriate to the hour and occasion, something to drink, and somewhere to sit down. And access to a restroom. Anything beyond that is bonus. I like it when the kids get stuff they use up, like bubbles, stickers, pencils, etc. I don't like cheap plastic toys that don't even work and break immediately. (Who DOES?) When we did party favors we gave out play-doh (not homemade, I'm not that cool), pens, and matchbox cars. That went over pretty well. There have been some great ideas here. A book is a great idea if you can get a good deal. At one party we went to we got organic lollipops. That was awesome. Usually I have to sneak away the garbage food from the bags before the kids see it, or if they see it, I have to be really stealth about not telling them they can't have it in front of the host.

What's Behind The Modern-day Mustache Mania?

Bearded & Tschorn June 19, 2013 |By Adam Tschorn The handlebar mustache is a style of 'stache that has become near ubiquitous (Illustration by Wes Bausmith ) Fascination with beards and mustaches takes many forms; some people grow them, others are attracted (or repulsed) by them, a few win championships with them, and others write about them at just about every chance they get. And, chances are, some mustache aficionados ("mustachianados?") are searching for the upper-lip strip of face furniture on the Internet right this very second. Well, quite a few, actually, according to Yahoo's search data. According to the company, which sends out occasional "what's spiking" emails, over the last month, the 'stache-curious users of its search engine have put the mustache on the must-search list. "Over the past month," the latest email tells us, "top searched mustaches are: 'batman mustache', 'dog with mustache', 'cat mustache', 'ronnie batman mustache'." The e-mail also offers up some of this week's top mustache-related searches on Yahoo. They include 'mr money mustache', 'mustache popping out iPhone 5 case', 'mustache clip art', 'mustache party' and 'mustache party supplies'. Although I'm at a loss as to what's behind this specific spike in mustache mania (besides the possibility that the friends of one Mr. Ronnie Batman Mustache have decided to execute a well-planned trick on him), I have noticed a particular proliferation of one very specific style of tonsorial topiary -- the meticulously groomed and shaped, hipster-appropriated handlebar -- which has become so ubiquitous in popular culture that walking down the street is starting to feel like venturing into a carnival tent into a Wild West saloon and out through a blacksmith's shop of yore. Handlebars are being used as bottle openers , pink plush ones are being strapped to the front of cars to indicate a new ride-sharing service , embroidered onto slippers and printed onto adhesive bandages. A few weeks back, a friend even emailed me a photo of a handlebar mustache pinatashe'd seen at a child's birthday party. (If you think that's an aberration, check Etsy, where there are currently more than a dozen versions on offer.) My theory? The handlebar mustache, simple to render and instantly recognizable in silhouette, has become entrenched as a kind of bifurcated byword for nostalgic longing, a symbolic shorthand that's being used to signify, key into and co-opt a larger, overarching trend -- that of modern-day culture's renewed appreciation of authenticity and heritage brands.

no goodie bags at DD's bday party: do I dare? - Page 2

Christophers napkin dress is the first to hit the runway and its totally stunning! Andys amazed by how his ribbon dress turned out, A.J. thinks his dress could win, Michaels red cocktail dress is beautiful, and not surprisingly Gretchen is in love with her own outfit. Casanova is proud of his tablecloth dress, Kristens worried about the stiff fabric of her garment, and Sarahs just grateful her dress is actually in one piece. Heidi Klum dismisses the designers with high enough scores to keep them around for another week. The six designers with the highest and lowest scores are A.J., Sarah, Casanova, Gretchen, Valerie, and Andy. The judges think Valeries napkin dress is sophisticated, beautiful, and sexy. A.J.s dress looks silly, campy, and like a hot mess. Andys ribbon dress, on the other hand, is exciting, remarkable, and beautiful. Casanovas disaster is pretty much a huge disaster. Micahel Kors calls his model a transvestite flamenco dancer at a funeral. Sarahs dress is simple and sad. The judges think Gretchens outfit is fabulous, cool, and modern. While the judges deliberate, the designers get into a bit of a tussle backstage over Gretchens incessant talking. The designers are called back to the runway to find out the results. Valerie is in, but she doesnt win the challenge.

New York Giants Coach Kevin Gilbride Loses Mustache in Trimming Accident, Prompting New York Times Obituary

I have seen balloons given out as children leave, which I think is a neat idea since the bunch of balloons doubles as a decoration for the party. You could get them at the dollar store, but for 20 kids, that does add up. A lot of times, doing some version of a pet rock activity works well as a craft and then we put it in a paper bag (house) that the child also decorated to take home. We did an owl theme for my daughter's birthday, so I put out feathers and dried beans and the kids made pet rock owls.....you get the idea. Don't underestimate the lure of the pet rock! Even the older cousins loved this. Select All Posts By This User I like the idea of sending well-wishers with a gift. However, I am TOTALLY against bags of plastic crap that never biodegrades and is made by children in sweatshops!!! For dd's bithday I bought a flock of ducks from Heifer International ( www.heifer.org ). We then made little cardboard ducks which dd decorated. When they left each guest got the "duck" and a Heifer brochure, with an explaination that one duck had been donated in their honor. There could be all sorts of variations on this theme, benefitting any kind of charity. (We almost gave out rubber ducks but I was glad dd was happy to make cardboard ones). Other ideas: You could start bulbs (put rocks and water in a clear plastic tumbler with the bulb, we did this for our wedding reception) that the kids can take home and watch grow all winter on their windowsill, then plant in the spring. Or have the kids assemble them at the party, a la craft station. A friend had kids build little terrariums in goldfish bowls (with plants from a local nursery). She had little dino and fairy and critter figures too. A food craft--decorate a cupcake/cookie/whatever. Decorate anything, really---little boxes, notebooks for school, wee cloth bags. It's winter--decorate gloves with fabric paint? You can get lots of mittens/gloves/scarves at the dollar store. Quote: Originally Posted by sunnygir1 They were thrilled when stickers and peanuts came out of the pinata, and they didn't care that we didn't have perfect pink decorations or a pink frosted cake. We did goody bags for DS's 1st birthday (most guests were 2 or 3 - the same age as DD) but they contained a matchbx car, crayon, silly bands and a small pack of smarties. You can see them here on my blog - http://www.rookblog.com/2011/04/moustache-party-goody-bags.html It was low key and non-junky.

Project Runway: Party (Supply) Dress!

project-runway-party-supply-dress-casanova-apartment What really could be derailing their season, however, is the loss of a loved one in the Giants family: offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbrides mustache. While ordinarily you would think the facial hair of a coach is nothing of note, the New York Times would disagree with you. So much so, that the Times Sam Borden wrote a hilarious obituary for GIlbrides mustache. Gilbride trimmed his whiskers during the Giants preseason, according to the Times, when he was distracted during a conversation with another coach. After he accidentally cut off half of the stache, he had no choice but to euthenize the entirety of it, prompting some somber responses from his players. It was just shocking, backup quarterback David Carr said. I think its bigger than if it happened to Tom Selleck, honestly. That might seem like high praise, but Gilbrides whiskers are no ordinary ones. The chairman of the American Mustache Institute has described the mustache in question as a perfect example of a Chevron style of mustache, which according to the Times is your standard-issue, law enforcement-style mustache. Even fans have taken note, especially after the Giants started this season slow. One party supply company sent the coach a fake replacement, and then followed up with a second, larger shipment after the teams loss to the Cowboys. The coach, however, is not too worried about his new look jinxing anything. Believe me, Gilbride said, if I knew that was why we won the Super Bowls, Id wear them. Photo of the Night Bye bye, hockey. Please, hurry back soon.

It hits all three things." Osborne hopes the change of tack will not just help growth but also shore up his position within the Conservative party. Nobody in the Osborne circle is vulgar enough to talk openly about his leadership ambitions. But one ally confirms it is on his mind. "Michael Howard did encourage him to go for the leadership in 2005. But George has no agenda. I have never heard any talk of a timetable. But the unspoken assumption is that the party would be a lot safer in George's hands than with bonking Boris." A veteran Tory was blunter. "For George everything is about preparing for the political armageddon of the return of Boris in 2015. Boris will win re-election as mayor [of London] next year and then sail back into parliament in his last year as mayor at the 2015 general election. "Cameron will probably stand down in 2018-19. George has to ensure that Boris does not reach the final two in the leadership contest because there is no way he can beat him in the country. "It will be Boris unless George achieves something that he certainly has not done up until now, and that is to connect with people.

Do you have any ideas for a budget-friendly birthday party?

Or check out CelebrateExpress.com, they have tons of cool stuff. Or to save money on that kind of thing, just by plain colored things. Maybe red cups, blue plates, bandanas for napkins, a tarp for a table cloth. I am all about the cheap. Oh, and instead of paying that extra $ for the little figures that go on the cake, have one decorated as usual and put on some Handy Manny toys you find, that way its a birthday gift that she can play with too. Ava?s Sesame Street Birthday Party

As the big planner, my day started out a little stressful. I had to get out early and have the helium balloons blown up and then somehow sneak them into the house. Decorating the house without her knowing was even harder! She knew something was up when dada kept taking her in the other room. First when I got home, then when her cake arrived and finally the catering. Luckily she got up early, so by mid-morning she was really tired and took a nap. I decorated the house hoping she would only wake before her guests arrived. I think she was in Sesame Street paradise when she woke! The first thing she said was, ELMO! and started running around taking in all the decorations. Once all our guest arrived, she got a little timid because she is not used to so many people in the house, but after a while she opened up. The last thing I want to do is slave away in the kitchen on my daughters big day. So, I ordered catering from a small grocer across the street from us. For a $100 dollars I got enough food to literally feed a whole army! It was really worth it. I recommend doing this if you can find a cheap place. Avas cake was the best part of the party. I have no words to express how amazing the cake was.

It's fright night! Jonathan Ross wows Halloween party guests with larger than life ghouls after transforming his home into a haunted castle

Getting into the spirit of things: One guest dressed as Iron Man while a young party-goer went as a skeleton (or mama-to-be!) "Tell us your stage and we'll customize the site just for you! Or" Sign In. Sign Out Hi Mama! (or mama-to-be!) "Tell us your stage and we'll customize the site just for you! Or" Sign In. Well, possibly Christmas, but that's months away. Batman's 7 Tips for Throwing a Great Superbowl Party

Chat show host Jonathan Ross went all out with impressive decorations and scary performers for his showbiz bash. The 51-year-old transformed his Hampstead house into a haunted castle, complete with dungeon. Count Dracula: Jonathan Ross really upped the ante this year with his Halloween party. The chat show host transformed his home and hired performers to really give a spooky feel to the bash If the impressive surroundings weren't enough, guests were welcomed into the bash by performers on stilts dressed in scary costumes. One entertainer was seen being helped out of the back of a van, by a staff worker ahead of the bash. While Jonathan had certainly gone all out on the decoration for the party, he didn't pay the same attention to his own costume. Larger than life: The 51-year-old had employed entertainers who were seen walking around outside the bash on stilts dressed in Halloween costumes. One performer was seen being helped out a van Trick or treat! Children seemed happy after being given candyfloss as the stopped by the bash Getting into the spirit of things: One guest dressed as Iron Man while a young party-goer went as a skeleton It appeared that the TV personality was dressed up as Count Dracula in a tuxedo, a cap with red lining and long, yellow, fake nails. He was also sporting a top hat on his head which gave him an appearance of a ring master. Children who visited the property trick or treated were rewarded with candy floss, which left them looking very happy indeed. Great fancy dress! One reveller opted for a mummy costume while another decided to go as a zombie bride Grease frightening! Gwen Stefani arrived looking like a zombie Sandy from Grease Stephen Fry (L) made an effort at the party as did Bryan Ferry (R) Is that it? Claudia Winkleman didn't put much effort into her outfit Horror show: Actress Chloe Moretz goes as a witch, accompanied by her older brother The preparations for the party began earlier in the day with a whole team of workers helping to transform Ross's house. And his next door neighour seemed to be embracing something similar and could well be part of the night's festivities. The front of the house was covered in large cobwebs with a huge, black spider sitting over the front door, while the windows were covered from the inside with scary orange hangings.

So who else would we go to when planning a Super Bowl party?Whether the big game is being watched at his swanky digs in Stately Wayne Manor or the original man-cave located beneath, everybody knows that Batman has the best pad for the best parties. Here are his rules for the perfect Super Bowl get-together. 7. Clean Up the Cave Lets face it, chum: you live in a giant hole in the ground. Its dank, its musty and its not exactly the type of place you want to show off to an Amazonian Princess or a guy whos seen the surface of Mars.So dust off the giant penny and brush the dinosaurs teeth.Move any offending artwork or furniture into another room.In order to create the perfect party atmosphere, take down those adorable baby pictures and put up some appropriate posters featuring the opposing teams.Or in my case, put those depressing Robin memorials back in the closet and brighten things up a little. Its a party! 6. Keep Some Spare Change Around for Betting Clark and Diana like to be all uppity about their unwavering dedication to justice, but you know damn well Hal and Ollie will throw down a bet or two.Nothing serious, of course: dig through the seats in the Batmobile and find some quarters to leave laying around should any impromptu wagering take place. A word of advice: dont bet against a super-speedster or a Martian.Anyone who has the ability to see into mens minds or access to a cosmic treadmill (and therefore, time travel) isnt playing fair, no matter what they say about truth and justice. And dont trust Booster Gold as far as you can throw him. 5. Put the Bat-Phone on Vibrate No one wants to be interrupted by news of a robbery or break-in during the two-minute warning. Its not called shirking responsibility, its called taking a break. There are no windows in a cave, so you dont have to worry about the Bat signal, but you ought to throw a towel over that blinking Bat phone and just tell Commissioner Gordon youll call him back.Seriously, its not like you cant wait until tomorrow to catch the Joker.Hes just going to break out of jail again anyway. 4. Have Some Fun And Check the Weapons at the Door Heres a fun tip: keep some little foam wedges in a basket next to all your chairs.Sooner or later, someone is bound to get upset about a bad call or a fumble and theyll want something to throw at the TV.The last thing you want is for a Batarang or a trick arrow to go through a $75,000 computer screen. 3. Dont Hesitate to Decorate Spruce the place up a bit by buying paper plates and cups, napkins and maybe even pennants in the colors of the opposing teams.Since it always ends up being the Gotham Knights against the Metropolis Meteors every year, you probably still have some decorations from last years party in storage somewhere.Go ahead and reuse it.No one will know the difference: theres only one worlds greatest detective. 2. Stock up on Refreshments, But Be Careful If your friends are like mine, theyll only be drinking ginger ale, but its a good idea to keep a well-stocked bar anyway. Its an even better idea to just invite them to bring their own alcohol. The last thing you want is to be held responsible when somebody finds Speedy passed out in the bathroom in a pool of his own vomit. 1. Have Fun And Aim to Please Keep a few monitors tuned to the game and a few tuned to local news, just in case someone needs an excuse to cut out.Not everyone likes football, but everyone enjoys a good get-together.Keep the conversation light: dont bring up Clarks family or where Barrys been all these years. And whatever you do, dont discuss politics with Green Arrow.

The Best First Birthday Party Themes

Creating a theme for a party: Sesame Street

Love it!

Lets make sure they are simple and let the guest know they will be going to a Sesame Street party. Over at Party City , you can buy invitations with both Elmo and the Cookie Monster. Now lets plan the decorations. For a Sesame Street party, I'd prefer a lot of bright colors. Again, Party City might be your best bet for finding the perfect decorations for the party. Personally, I like the Sesame Street Party Supplies Party Kit because of the characters on the side of the table cloth and the colorful balloons. You can either get the regular or deluxe kit based on how many guests will be coming. Last, but not least, we need to think of some fantastic Sesame Street food and cakes. Ava?s Sesame Street Birthday Party

We just want a simple, homemade party. Any ideas for themes, decorations, crafts to make or what not? Thanks so much!! Select All Posts By This User I made a banner that read "Happy Birthday". I made felt triangles and sewed the short sides of the triangles onto bias tape. Then I printed off big size letters and used them as stensils to cut letters out of brightly colored fabric and used fray stop to stop the sides of the letters from fraying. I then used a glue gun to glue them onto the triangles. DH and I also made really fun pin wheels out of card stock paper, buttons, gardening wire, and dowling cut to length with a hole drilled in for the wire to go through. We decorated the cake with fondant icing and used animal cookie cutters to cut out animals from different colored fondant. I bought some brightly colored stripped fabric at a rummage sale and finished the edges to use as a big, bright table cloth. Select All Posts By This User I wouldn't worry too much about activities or crafts. In my experience, it may be difficult to get several 2 year olds to sit still for a craft when they are all running around playing and having fun. Activities can be fun but I have yet to see one at a toddler party where more than one or two kids participated for longer than a few minutes.

Birthday Party Ideas for a 2 Year Old Boy?

P1030387.JPG I think she was in Sesame Street paradise when she woke! The designer, Jolie Gateau not only did an amazing job, but it was not too expensive either. Ava loved the little balls on the cake and started to eat them immediately. Jolie Gateau also did Avas Sesame Street cupcakes which were just as amazing. Our guests couldnt get over how amazing they looked and they were more than willing to take the extra cupcakes home! In conclusion, the party was great.

Birthday Party Goodie Bags -- Beyond Stickers And Candy

Australia's New Destination for Costumes and Party Supplies

* Another arts and craft party suggestion: a pack of watercolor paints or crayons or colored pencils, tied with a ribbon and "thanks for coming" note. * One family made a compilation CD of the birthday kid's favorite tunes and burned copies for the guests. * At a karaoke party, the guests got sunglasses. * Sports parties: water bottles, baseballs autographed by birthday boy, packs of Big League Chew gum , flying discs, water shooters. * For a cowboy-themed party: a horsehoe decorated at the party, a journal with cowboy fabric as a cover, a bandana. Said this mom: "For the thank-you note, we took a picture of each gift with the birthday girl with a giant cutout of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans ." * Girls sleepover: Inexpensive white pillowcases painted with fabric paint and markers. * For a birthday close to Halloween: glow-in-the-dark plastic pumpkins for trick-or-treating, with a little candy inside. * At a "Star Wars" party, one family gave each kid a brown felt costume -- basically a big rectangle with a hole for the head, plus a rope belt. * Random suggestions: Mad Lib books , Chinese jump ropes , journals with pen/pencils, cartoon character mugs holding matching pencils, rubber balls with the guests' names painted on, tubs of colored chalk, art supplies, healthier treats such as fruit leather, sets of jacks, marbles, magnifying glasses.

SDCC: Nickelodeon's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Team Parties with Fans

EXCLUSIVE: Gail Simone Tackles "Savage Wolverine," Spider-Man Its been a couple of decades and I thought I was over it, but when I saw a post on Jalopnik this week about Brittney Schnecks customized 94 Dodge Caravan, all that childhood envy came flooding back: digg_url = http://comicsalliance.com/2010/10/22/tmnt-party-wagon-minivan-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles/; tweetmeme_url = http://comicsalliance.com/2010/10/22/tmnt-party-wagon-minivan-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles/; tweetmeme_source = comicsalliance; Thats right: Schneck built herself a Party Wagon. And it is awesome.According to Schneck, the project which involved hand-painting the vans decal detailing and making parts like the spoiler and ray gun herself while working two jobs and going to college was a labor of love stemming from fond childhood memories of the show and playing TMNT with her cousins and uncle, who she refers to as Uncle Shredder, which is an entirely different kind of awesome. And he drove you guessed it a Dodge Caravan. The process of getting the Wagon in shape to battle the Foot Clan has taken Schneck since last July, and it wasnt; just cosmetic. There were also a ton of mechanical repairs involved including a new radiator, which makes it equal part Michaelangelo and Donatello. And the end results are pretty impressive: And as the finishing touch, check out the license plate: Pretty awesome. Of course, Schnecks Party Caravan isnt the only live-action adaptation of the Turtles signature van Ive ever seen, although its easily my favorite. Lets see how it stacks up against the competition: This version spotted at Topless Robot was exhibited at the Volo Auto Museum in Chicago. Since it was built from a VW Bus, its more accurate in terms of shape, but lets be honest here: Look how big the Party Wagon is in relation to the figures! Having the life-sized Turtle next to the VW Bus version just underscores the fact that the scales a little too off.

Custom ?TMNT? Party Wagon Is The Greatest Minivan Of All Time

Vanilla Ice and Coolio Young MC are also booked for the event. [UPDATE: Coolio pulled out of the concert, so he was replaced with Young MC and Digital Underground, Guynes said via email.] Cowabunga, dude! Guynes hasn't hosted a concert of this size before, but he was the organizer of a car show in Dallas for 10,000 people in 2011. He has 52,000 subscribers to his Facebook profile and considers that a tool to tell people about his tubular turtle party. Though the fundraiser was successful, money can still be raised until Friday at midnight. If enough people purchase tickets -- which now cost $55 per person -- Guynes will close the sale of tickets Friday. "It'll be a bunch of 30-year-old people reliving their childhood," he said. "It's a dream come true." But why? How? Courtesy Jared Guynes said he met Vanilla Ice two years ago in Las Vegas. Now the '90s rapper is headlining a party in Dallas for Guynes in February 2014. Nearly 20 years after Guynes saw The Secret of the Ooze, his plan started to take shape. He met Vanilla Ice (rapper Rob Van Winkle, from Dallas) at a car convention in Las Vegas two years ago. Winkle geeked about being a TMNT fan, pulling up his leg to show Guynes his turtle tattoo, Guynes recalled.

Interactive Brooklyn screening of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' will give fans a chance to act out their childhood fantasies

Members of the evil Foot Clan commit a robbery in event to be held at N. Third St. in Williamsburg. BBQ Films has since created 14 immersive movie screenings. Over the summer, Rhoads and his crew produced a Holiday on the Fhloston Paradise, based on the 1997 sci-fi epic The Fifth Element. They decked out a yacht on the East River like the intergalactic pleasure ship from the movie, complete with alien opera singers and a burlesque dancer dressed like Milla Jovovichs character. Costumed guests got the feel of being on a starship in orbit. BBQ Films screening of American Psycho at the Tribeca Grand Hotel was brought to life with a mock 27th birthday bash for main character Patrick Bateman. There were piles of money, plenty of booze, a business card competition and lots of fake blood. Andrew Theodorakis/New York Daily News Graffiti artist helps create Shredder's Lair for the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" immersive experience. For this weeks Ninja Turtle extravaganza, there will also be a live concert by Richard A. Usher Jr., a member of the original Partners in Kryme, who rapped Turtle Power. The hit single was played during the original films closing credits. Were going to do the song just like it was in the movie, says Usher. A surprise track will also be played. Rhoads says he picked the Ninja Turtles as a theme because the childhood heroes are enjoying a comeback. The third animated series around the Turtles, which debuted last year, is going strong on Nickelodeon, and a film reboot is due out next year, starring Megan Fox as news anchor April ONeil. Andrew Theodorakis/New York Daily News Williamsburg warehouse serves as Shredder's Lair in BBQ Films' interactive presentation of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Usher believes the Turtles enduring appeal has less to do with their ninja skills and more to do with their age. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles goof around a lot, because theyre young, he says. So kids always relate to them, and every generation is a new generation of fans. jsilverman@nydailynews.com YOU SHOULD KNOW The Thursday screening begins with drinks and pizza at 7 p.m. at 50 N. Third St.

UPDATED: Ninja Turtles superfan raised over $35,000 to secure ?epic party? with Vanilla Ice

This is Jared Guynes. He wants to throw a Vanilla Ice concert where life-size replicas of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show up.

When asked which Ninja Turtle is his favorite, he said Michelangelo. "He "It's amazing for me -- these guys are like my family. I love Nick and everybody and these guys are literally like my brothers. It's cool to be the girl in the room -- I get to represent all the badass ladies out there." "I originally read for April. They didn't like it," Cipes joked. "We love April and give her a lot of stuff to do in the show and it's going to continue," Hastings said. He then had Richardson read an impromptu advertisement for hotel linens in the voice of The Shredder which had the audience -- and panelists -- cracking up. "What better way to up the ante for Season 2 than having a lot of mutagen get lost!" Nieli said, revealing the overlying theme of Season 2. A brief clip showed cans of mutagen falling from a Kraang ship into New York City, with the voiceover saying, "New York City gets a few more mutants." "We wanted to kick off a whole spree of new mutants," Nieli said, showing an image of newcomer, Newtralizer. "Newtralizer is a character I came up with as a kid. He's an intergalactic bounty hunter." A brief video showed Newtralizer -- voiced by Danny Trejo -- blowing away a couple of Kraangs, then eating a third and taking possession of some enhanced armor. "I want the Newtralizer toy!" Cipes shouted. Corey Feldman returns to TMNT as the voice of Slash Nieli then announced the introduction of Slash, voiced by Corey Feldman, better known to TMNT fans as Donatello in the 1990 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie, and again in 1993's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III." "He's like the fifth Turtle," Nieli said of Slash. "His design came mostly from the classic toy," Nieli said when Mutagen Man appeared on the screen.

New Birthday Party Themes For 2013 Include Personalized Parties For Young Children

Personalized banners make the barnyard bash come to life and celebrate the birthday boy or girl. A large red barn acts as a decoration and activity for the kids at the party. Bumble Bee From the party invitations to the decorations, Bumble Bees provide a bright and fun party theme. These black and yellow decorations are appropriate for boys and girls and are a perfect theme for spring and summer birthday parties.

For more information about the programs and services of St.

Ladybug birthday party theme

Knit infinity scarf patterns Bonus points if it's "consumable," such as bubbles or art supplies, or useful, such as a mug. I aim for one item, not a bag of cheap toys. At the most recent party, we had shiny pinwheels in a vase on the center of the picnic table, and each child took one home. We do party favors because my son loves giving (and receiving!) them. It's a fun way to say thank you to guests, and helps little ones especially with the transition of the party ending. How To Throw A Pre-school Pirate Party

Pirate party brings in booty for school supply drive

If you wanted to avoid standard store-bought invitations you could also shop on Etsy where you can find thousands of sellers making fantastic themed invitations that can often be fully customised. If you want to design your own as I did there are hundreds of websites offering free fonts and digital scrapbooking supplies, check out my favourite designer Britt-ish Designs who often has small freebies that accompany her kits and who makes a lot of Disney themed designs. 2. Fancy Dress My little guy in his pirate outfit - yes that's the least blurred picture I have Wendy Sharpe This is one of the simplest and cheapest things to do as it requires virtually no effort on your part for all the guests costumes. I do however only recommend it with simple ideas such as our pirate theme asking parents to dress their little ones up in complex or expensive costumes will not endear you to them. Pirate costumes can be a simple as a pair of shorts with an old stripy shirt; the kids at my party came in everything from these commandeered wardrobe costumes with homemade cardboard hats right through to store bought costumes and fancy homemade outfits. I also dressed up to help set the theme this worked especially well for the pirate party theme as I became the captain for the day. Iwantedto dress my son up as Jake from the TV show but there was no official costume out so I made him one from an old white t-shirt, striped vest, shorts and some blue fabric. I found a pattern online to make the waistcoat, sewed on the cheap gold buttons and used double sided tape to attach the yellow ribbon trim as I knew it didnt have tosurvivewashing. One of the best things about pirate costumes is that tatty frayed edges are actually a good thing so theres no need to hem the clothes if you dont want. I also found a pirate t-shirt on sale for $2 at the supermarket; I bought it and roughly cut out the pocket designs, one of which had a sword in, and attached them to the waistcoat with tape to add some detail. 3. Games Coming up with party games is always tricky, especially if you want them themed. We stuck with a good old game of pass the parcel to make sure every kid was involved in something. I also invented a treasure hunt game using my sons two-piece animal jigsaw set, it went like this: Hide one half of each animal around your venue, make sure theyre in places that are safe and kid eye-level Split the kids into two teams try and mix ages, then assign an adult to each team as a helper Give the teams the other halves of the hidden animals, each team should have the same number of animals to find The first team to return to you with all their completed animals wins As a third activity, I had a costume competition which I mentioned on the invitations. I assigned an adult friend of mine who didnt know any of the kids except my son (who was naturally excluded from the competition) to pick the costume she liked best and write the childs name down on a piece of paper.

Pirate party: For hire

Nearly 1,200 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed by LESA last Wednesday. The family's farewell Pirate Party on Aug. 23 contributed about a dozen of them, as well as a couple of hundred individual supplies, including glue sticks, pencils, notebooks and paper. "We're always so excited to do this," Debbie Engel said. "Many people in our community do need help and we love doing this." The Engels have hosted seven of these parties. All have collected items for good causes, with the last four contributing to LESA's "Backpacks For Kids" program. "It's our own little tradition," Sarah Engel said. "Some kids don't really have school supplies and we like to help them." This year's party, attended by 31 families and about 63 kids, is the last because the Engels are moving from their Pine Creek Ridge home near the shores of Brighton Lake to New York state. The Engels originate from the East Coast, which led to the pirate theme of their annual summer parties. "My mom would take me walking on the beach after storms for a treasure hunt," Debbie Engel said. "We'd get old bottles and big shells. When we moved here and had this beautiful park and beach, it just seemed like we should use it for a summer get-together." ANGELA SPOONER, THE LIVINGSTON COMMUNITY NEWSKyle Duncan, 5, of Brighton poses with the pirate prizes he won at the Pirate Party. The event, hosted by the Engel family, collects school supplies for a program that distributes them to local families in need. The party's timing before the start of school has been a perfect fit with the school supply drive, Debbie Engel said. "It's kids giving to other kids and families giving to other families," she said. "It's how we can make a difference in our own little way." Donations for this year's program have been good, despite concerns that the ever-weakening state economy could have taken a toll, said Jean Garratt, director of LESA's Early Childhood programs.

Sophie Brown Unlike with his first, I spent a long time considering what theme to go with; at two he was certainly old enough to have an interest in his own things, but not yet old enough to choose his own party theme. I eventually picked a pirate theme for two reasons: firstly, he was enjoying the Disney Junior show Jake and the Neverland Pirates a lot and secondly, it seemed fairly easy for me to do.Here then are my tips and ideas for hosting a pirate party for little ones: 1. Invitations The party invitation I designed on Photoshop Sophie Brown I wanted to keep my costs down as much as possible. I try not to be a Scrooge over these things but its not like my little boy understood what was happening. Even so my guest lists expanded past what I was happy with because of village politics (you cant invite kid A without inviting kid B) and at age two, parents have to accompany their charges to the party meaning every kid invited is actually at least two extra people often more. We decided right from the beginning to book the village hall for sheer practicality. My house feels crowded with just two or three extra people inside the thirty or so on my guest list would have been inconceivable. The invitation is the first piece of your party puzzle and sets the theme for the event. I designed mine on Photoshop using digital scrapbooking supplies and had them printed as postcards by a photo printing company. A bonus of doing this is that it saves the cost of envelopes. If you wanted to avoid standard store-bought invitations you could also shop on Etsy where you can find thousands of sellers making fantastic themed invitations that can often be fully customized. If you want to design your own as I did there are hundreds of websites offering free fonts and digital scrapbooking supplies. Oklahoma City party has pirate's theme

One idea is to hire out a venue, these vary in price depending on size and number of people you want to have in it. Local village hall This is generally the favoured option as hire prices tend to be lower than other venues. Village halls also tend to be the nearest option and have kitchen and toilet facilities plus a dance floor/hall for the kids to play in. Local sports club These are great options as they are generally a good size and are close to a field or play park for the kids to run around outside or just get some fresh air. There's generally a lot of parking if other adults want to be there, plus most of them have a bar for people to buy any additional drinks and snacks. They are also usually away from houses so the noise of the party wouldn't be an issue. Soft play and party areas These tend to vary according to where you live, but most towns have indoor play areas with ball-pools, slides, swings and soft blocks for children to play in, and when they've tired themselves out inside most offer food packages for afterwards. Some examples are Kidzplay , Little Rascals , and Scallywags Castle play area . Local restaurant There are several restaurants that accommodate children's birthday parties. The type of packages available vary from place-to-place depending on what you want to eat, how many children there are and their ages. Some examples of party-friendly restaurants are Pizza Hut , T.G.I Friday's, Chiquitos , Harvester and Toby Carvery restaurants, as well as McDonald's, Burger King and KFC. Local leisure centre/swimming pool This is another option as some local swimming pools have inflatable island play areas inside the pool which have a pirate theme. This could be good if your child wants a pirate party but you don't want all the fuss that comes with it. You could always fill the small eating area with a few pirate decorations if you're including food with the party - usually there is a room at the local pool or leisure centre you can use for this. goodtoknow tip: You could always have a joint birthday and split the costs of hiring a venue with another family. What's Behind The Modern-day Mustache Mania?

CincItalia hosts mustache contest

Or maybe I'm just splitting hairs.

18, 2012 in Montreal. The picture has drawn a hail of insults and one-liners on social media sites. next play/pause pre Waterloo Region Record MONTREAL - Wrinkles, stray grey hairs and whiskers above a womans upper lip arent usually seen on campaign posters whose subjects are more than often made-up, coiffed and photo-shopped to cinematic perfection. But Manon Masse and others in her party are taking a different approach. The Quebec solidaire candidate wears a jean shirt in her poster photo and her hair is undone, loose strands roaming freely. Then theres the facial hair, visible above her lips. The picture has drawn a hail of insults and one-liners on social media sites. The community activist and mother of two, Masse says she wears her moustache proudly as a statement against transphobia a fear of people who transgress traditional gender norms. We are politicians who are very different, said Masse, 49. Were not here to fit into heterosexual norms. For the last 30 years Masse has fought for the rights of women, immigrants and members of the LGBT community. Last year she was aboard the Canadian ship carrying medical supplies to Gaza that tried and failed to break an Israeli blockade. She is among the founding members of Quebec solidaire, which has feminism at the helm of its basic guiding principles. The partys commitment to gender parity is so great that it has more leaders two than it has members in the legislature. It refers to its female and male co-leaders as co-spokespeople. One of them, Francoise David, was inducted into lOrdre national du Quebec the provinces equivalent of the Order of Canada for her decades of work fighting poverty and violence against women. The other, physician Amir Khadir, is the partys only elected member.

Project Runway: Party (Supply) Dress!

project-runway-party-supply-dress-casanova-apartment Joining herself, Nina Garcia, and Michael Kors is eccentric fashion designer Betsey Johnson.

Are you getting prepped for a playoff party?

Tools Story Created: Sep 30, 2011 at 2:49 PM CST Story Updated: Sep 30, 2011 MILWAUKEE- It's just not just the Brewers team getting ready for Game One of the playoffs Saturday, their fans are too. Local stores, like Bartz's Party Store, say they have been flooded with people getting supplies for the big series with the Diamondbacks. "Now that the Brewers are in the playoffs, everyone is really excited," Zach Bartz, owner Bartz's Party Store, said. Everything with the Brewcrew logo, or name has become very popular with the team making the playoffs. The newest item for the Brewers' run is the "Bernie Brewer Mustache," a golden homage to the home team mascot. "I thought it was needed in our line up," Bartz explained. "No one has a giant yellow mustache." The same busy atmosphere was being felt at the Metro Mart in Mequon. "It's party central here," Bakery Manager Teresa Delaney said. Fresh brats were brought out, there is a cheese display encouraging the team, and some extremely elaborate tribute cakes. "Everyone is really pumped up, it's awesome because it's not just the Packers this year," Delaney added. The fast paced party planning is expected through the playoffs.

How to Use Your Penis Cake Pan After the Bachelorette Party is Over

There are many options when you are planning your Spa Day bachelorette party, mostly because there are so many spas and day spas to choose from. Many spas will offer group discounts of 10-15% for groups larger than 4 or 6. Often the guests can pick or choose their own treatments and you can all hang out together between massages, or you can have your pedicures all at the same time. Make sure the spa has a hot tub so you can all hang out together as one big, crazy bachelorette party. No splashing though since that is often considered poor spa etiquette. You can also opt for a party crated by Mobile Spa Party in the comfort of your own home (you supply the hot tub). Their tag line is "A Day Spa at your Doorstep" and they offer day spa services including: facials, skin treatments, massage, manicures, pedicures, and more. Unfortunately, the Mobile Spa only operates in a handful of metropolitan areas across the US. Here is the link to their locations listed by state and metro area .

Online Party Store Specializes in Pre-Wedding Celebrations

Walking into the bachelorette section of a party supplies store is like finding the secret merchandise of a Troma film: disembodied penises of all shapes, sizes, colors, and iterations gleam on every wall, just waiting to be the object of uncomfortable giggles and drunk Instagrams. Its Willy Wonkas cock-olate factory and you can bet the snozzberries taste like snozzberries . But after the last stripper has been paid and your hangover has dissipated into pangs of embarrassment and IHOP cravings, what do you do with your Smorgasbord of trouser snake paraphernalia? Penis Pans documents one innovative womans struggle to make use of the penis cake pan she bought for a bachelorette party. As it turns out, going green with the mold of a mans Giving Tree requires a lot of imagination, decorative frosting, and, as is the case with the wizard cake, a little bit of suspended dick-belief. Penis Pans made us think: how does one repurpose other bachelorette party accoutrements? The Penis Shot Glass : Use this plastic erection to organize and display your ring collection! Is the hard-on just used as a handle, like it is here ? Give the glass a quick once over with paint or (more likely) a Sharpie so that it isnt a creepy, Gollum-like flesh cool and let your nieces Barbies use it as an ottoman or stool. And dont laugh when you see USA President Barbie sitting on it. DO.

Come Party With Me: Bachelorette ? The Look

Here's how you can achieve a similar look. Cover the appetizer table with a raw silk brocade fabric. Peacock feather placemats add texture to the tablescape. Serve the pita rounds, Turkish cigars, lamb flatbread, and skewered shrimp on luxe teal platters . Set the fudge brownie tartlets on a golden elephant cake stand. Fill an elegant drink dispenser with lavender peach bellini and let the girls fill up the champagne coupes. Hang festive colored lanterns from trees or the ceiling and arrange an exotic bouquet of flowers. Belly dancing jewelry is a fabulous and unexpected party favor.

Nick Jr.'s 'Yo Gabba Gabba!' is ready to party in your city

"Most TV shows that tour take on a play format, but we just wanted this to be rock 'n' roll. A bunch of songs, but not as loud," he says. Traveling kids' shows are gathering cultural momentum, says Gary Bongiovanni, editor of concert trend-tracker Pollstar. "Pre-teens used to just have circuses and ice shows," he says. Now, "Walking With Dinosaurs (based on the BBC TV series) came out of nowhere to be the 13th-biggest ticket seller in the world, just beating out Coldplay ." At rehearsal, the Yo Gabba Gabba! characters romp through the one-hour show, one bass-thumping singalong led by their surreal ringleader, a former DJ turned toddler hero. "I'm friendly, yet magical," says DJ Lance. "It's part me, part Mr. Rogers and part Mr. Roarke from Fantasy Island ." And with that, Brobee the pint-size green monster starts to dance.

Jason and Marlowe hold hands on the way to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live Holiday Show, mixes all-time Gabba favorites like I Like To Dance and Party In My Tummy, with holiday songs. Child's play: Jason Schwartzman and his wife Brandy Cunningham take daughter Marlowe to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live at the Nokia Theater in L.A. Schwartzman dressed simply in a black T-shirt, gray trousers and white high-top sneakers. His blond, fashion-designer wife wore ripped jeans, a deep blue polka-dot blouse and cowboy booties and carried a canvas bag. Adroable little Marlowe was stylish in a red and white striped dress and seafoam green Converse high-tops. She wore he curly brown hair down with a clip on the right side. Pick me up: Schwartzman holds Marlowe as the family heads to the show Schwartzman plays songwriter Richard Morton Sherman in Saving Mr. Banks, a film about the making of Mary Poppins. Luckily, she was born at the very end of the year so I can steal ideas from the other Baby Mamas in the 2007 Babies group (shhh).

The Misinformed Tea Party Movement

Not everyone follows these numbers closely, and Tea Partyers may have been thinking of figures from a few years ago, before the recession when taxes were higher. According to the CBO, the highest figure for all federal taxes since 1970 came in the year 2000, when they reached 20.6% of GDP. As we know, after that George W. Bush and Republicans in Congress cut federal taxes; they fell to 18.5% of GDP in 2007, before the recession hit, and 17.5% in 2008. Tuesdays Tea Party crowd, however, thought that federal taxes were almost three times as high as they actually are. The average response was 42% of GDP and the median 40%. The highest figure recorded in all of American history was half those figures: 20.9% at the peak of World War II in 1944. To follow up, Tea Partyers were asked how much they think a typical family making $50,000 per year pays in federal income taxes. The average response was $12,710, the median $10,000. In percentage terms this means a tax burden of between 20% and 25% of income.

Curious George is appearing as a partnership between the Zoo and The Creative Discovery Museum who will be unveiling their new summer Curious George exhibit from June 13 - Sept 27. Guide To Web Features For Kids

Mix and Paint ( requires Flash ) This activity is designed to let our budding scientists mix colors using primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and also to lighten them using white. If they work carefully, they can create an incredibly rich array of new colors. Moving the cursor across to the canvas area lets them use each new color to paint pictures by simply clicking. They can empty the paint bucket at any time by clicking on it, as this will refill the paint tubes. The game, as much as possible, copies what it is like to mix real paint. If you want to find the right brown, for example, to color Curious George, you'll need two squirts of yellow, and one each of red and blue. Extend the learning: Let your kids mix their own colors with real paint! Monkey Faces ( requires Flash ) This two-part activity helps our junior engineers learn some computer skills and then some drafting skills. First they must drag and drop features to build George's face. Many kids this age are just learning how to use a mouse, and this rewarding feature will help them click move and release items. When they do George animates and kids are offered the second part: a chance to print and draw George.

And, of course, how can you not raise a youngster in the Orlando area and not let them experience at least one Disney-themed birthday blowout before they outgrow their love of Winnie the Pooh, the Little Mermaid or Nemo? Now party-planning company Punchbowl has launched its Disney Digital Invitation Collection, an exclusive array of free digital invitations featuring Disney and Disney-related characters and themes. The invitations can be customized and shared by email or social media. The collection includes Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, the Disney princesses and fairies, characters from Toy Story, Cars and The Little Mermaid, Winnie the Pooh, the Muppets and much more. There even are characters from the recent Disney smash hit Frozen. The Framingham, Ma., companys website also sells matching Disney-themed party supplies and decorations, as well. As cool as the exclusive free digital invitations might be, another recent announcement from Punchbowl might be just as welcomed by parents on the go. This past week, the company also announced the launch of a touch-friendly user interface for party invitation recipients using tablets and smartphones. Gone are the requirements of having to zoom in on small mobile screens to respond to digital invitation choices. The new responsive interface allows users, regardless of their mobile devices or how many they might have, to quickly and easily see party details. Users can quickly RSVP, select potluck items, vote on snacks and even view map directions. According to Punchbowl officials, an overwhelming majority of party planners would rather send online invitations rather than paper. The reasons for this are multiple: Often, many party planners might not have mailing addresses with the same availability that they do with email addresses. Also, theres no denying that digital invitations offer a convenience factor not always shared by paper invitations.

New Business Brings The Party To Oak Harbor

Make a Ladybug from Paper Plates

Whidbey Islanders no longer have to travel off-island for party supplies thanks to the newly opened Whidbey Party Store. Robyn and Orin Kolaitis, owners, held a grand opening celebration March 29. It was desperately needed on the island, Robyn Kolaitis said of the party store, which features supplies for everything from weddings to graduation to babys first birthday. I knew a whole lot of moms driving to Burlington every time they had a party. And all shes heard since the stores opening has been how great it is to have a party store on the island again. Already, the store has sold out of Angry Birds balloons, which are based on the popular video game, but theres still an entire wall dedicated to balloons for every occasion. No ones stumped me yet, Kolaitis said. Shes taking pre-orders for Mothers Day balloon bouquets, which feature fancy bundles of balloons shaped like flowers, chocolates and more. Kolaitis said the elegant black and white bouquet is her favorite. Another aisle is decked out in purple and gold in preparation for high school graduation. Decorations and items in the colors of all three Whidbey Island high schools are available.

For more information about the programs and services of St.

To help bring down your party costs, we've asked moms to share their best money-saving tips for kids' birthday parties . 1. Choose a Color-Based Theme "I usually try to stick with a color theme instead of character theme. New from Confetti Couture: Ladybug Party Ideas are Organized into an Easy to Use Party Plan

Draw black spots on the red wings using a marker or crayons, or cut dots from scraps of black construction paper and glue them to the wings. The dots can be large, small or even heart shaped for a whimsical ladybug. Punch a small hole in the top of each half circle, close to the straight edge, using a sharp pencil. Punch a small hole in the center of the lower edge of the ladybugs head. Put a paper brad through the holes in both paper plate wings, then put the brad through the ladybugs neck. Bend the ends of the paper brad to fasten it in place.
